Ghosts in the Walls of Love
Alondra Gutiérrez Vargas (Costa Rica)
It was like a radiant and powerful castle.
Where everything seemed eternal.
Time had stopped because love had passed away.
But in this life, everything ends.
There are no right moments to give love.
Goodbye comes whether you want it or not.
We don't have the power to control it.
Because we own nothing, or no one.
As time passed, the roof collapsed, just like uncertain promises.
The doors and windows, aged by time, fell down, just like the bodies.
The pain became great, but sadness, a necessary emotion for grieving, didn't want to say goodbye, didn't want to grieve.
Little by little, it forgot about the sky; emotions trembled, creating its own ghost that nestled in the walls of the old castle. They just wanted to feel accompanied, without any specific address.
The vegetation had grown with shoots of wildflowers as if calling for eternal love.
The sun had clouded over, but the sea still dwelt in eyes bathed in passion.
The axis of his earth shattered like glass.
The mournful crape had taken everything from him.
She had died first; he cared for her grave until the end of his breath.
Out in the castle gardens, one night he felt another music playing his soul.
He contemplated the roses, the tulips, and the violets.
He cut a bouquet with his hands and placed it on the fresh grass where his beloved lay.
The soul lives on when the body has died!
He stayed curled up, caressing the violets until his last breath vanished.
From then on, art fell asleep.
Love will continue lulling them within the walls.
Even arguments became splendid in the things they didn't understand before.
Now they can love and cry without feeling empty.
Scream in the orgasm of the mind that runs through invisible skin.
Laugh, love, and remain there within the walls...
They have created a heavenly tree, the tree called life in the sky, the one that grows taller than any soul...
In the special place where the stars never go out, with only one heart to continue loving.
