Poem - Tahajjud’s Shrine (Night Prayer), Poet - Mohamed Ellaghafi (Morocco)

Tahajjud’s Shrine (Night Prayer)

Mohamed Ellaghafi (Morocco)

More ferocious than war

Are your masochistic glances.

The shadows vanish,

Longing and burning

If only

This cold entity

Would clash

At the core of love,

Spewing from your volcano

The remains of lovers.

More delicate

Than the sun’s details

When it blazes,

Becoming a river

Piercing the heart of noon.

A heart shattering into meteors

And fragments,

While truth perishes.

As if

Instead of battle,

There were an embrace,

And a hand,

Moist and tender,

Would stroke

My severed head.
