Man between Mind and Eye

Snow pours down
Snow crumbles
Snow melts.
A man walks along the street,
Precariously carrying a day’s burden,
Trudging along the street where the white snowflakes break.
Blowing a horn is something beyond this world.
In the city where snow meets snow to make a snowstorm
A stranger with covered ears and eyes
Seeps and melts into snow.
The man traveling to a distant place is weeping.
The cloud’s shade falls
And the snow’s gloom thickens.
When evening’s worries detain the road,
The man’s sorrow cascades as blizzard.
Automobiles move slowly.
On a road devoid of boundaries
The man who was crying with his face dipping into snowflakes
Pushes his tears and passes through winter’s country.
On a day snow falls
Like a confession never made to anyone.

মন আর চোখের মাঝে মানুষ
ইয়েন মিউং-জি (দক্ষিণ কোরিয়া)

তুষার ঝরে
তুষার চূর্ণবিচূর্ণ হয়
তুষার গলে।
একজন লোক রাস্তা দিয়ে হাঁটে,
অনিশ্চিতভাবে একদিনের বোঝা বহন করে,
যেখানে সাদা তুষারকণা ভেঙ্গে যায় সেই রাস্তায় টেনে টেনে চলে।
একটি শিঙ্গায় ফুঁ হল এই বিশ্বের বাইরের কিছু।
শহরে যেখানে তুষার-ঝড় তৈরি করতে তুষার মিলিত হয় তুষারের সঙ্গে
কান ও চোখ ঢাকা অপরিচিত
তুষারে চোয়ায় এবং গলে যায়।
দূরবর্তী স্থানে ভ্রমণকারী লোকটি কাঁদছে।
মেঘের ছায়া পড়ে
এবং বরফের অন্ধকার ঘনীভূত হয়।
যখন সন্ধ্যার দুশ্চিন্তা রাস্তা আটকে রাখে,
লোকটির দুঃখ তুষারঝড়ের মতো ঝরছে।
মোটরগাড়ি ধীরে ধীরে চলে।
সীমানাবিহীন রাস্তায়
যে লোকটি তুষারপাতের মধ্যে কাঁদছিল মুখ ডুবিয়ে
তার চোখের জল ঠেলে শীতের দেশে চলে যায়।
একদিন তুষারপাত হয়
এমন স্বীকারোক্তির মতো যা কখনো করা হয়নি কারো কাছে ।

About the Poetess:
Poetess Yeon Myung-ji began her literary career in 2013 by publishing “Gashibi” with Minerva Publishing. She then published “Sitting Like an Apple” and “Seventeen Miss Marco Polo.” She won the 2023 Homi Literary Award and the Gyeongbuk Ilbo Cheongsong Guesthouse Literary Award. She has also worked as a journalist for the online newspaper POST 24 and is currently the Vice President of the Korean Association of World Literature.
