The Creek in the Woods

Chatters of water up and down draw us into the filthy woods,
A rotten wood bridge leads us to the knees of wildflowers
A creek hidden in the branches, can be seen through to the bottom
Flowing over our feet at leisure, biting cold will turn into burning hot
We try taking five steps, chattering water tests the creek bed's shape
With needle-like shadows swimming down below
Volume up a small pond at a sudden turn
Just as we were about to walk a mile up the creek
We are withdrawn by wasps buzzing around a broken stump
Gathering and scattering, like a quarrel
Now an apricot shirt and a straw what
Decorated with wildflowers floating downstream
We have no idea where the creek leads
Just like our love for things is but cold flames

জলের বকবক করা আমাদের নোংরা বনে টেনে নিয়ে যায়,
একটি পচা কাঠের সেতু আমাদের বন্য ফুলের হাঁটুর দিকে নিয়ে যায়
শাখাগুলির মধ্যে লুকানো একটি খাঁড়ি, নীচের দিকে দেখা যেতে পারে
অবসরে আমাদের পায়ের উপর দিয়ে বয়ে যাওয়া কামড়ানো ঠাণ্ডা জ্বলন্ত গরমে পরিণত হবে
আমরা পাঁচটি পদক্ষেপ নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করি, বকবক করা জল খাড়ির বিছানার আকার পরীক্ষা করে
সুচের মতো ছায়া সাঁতার দিয়ে নিচে
একটি আকস্মিক মোড়ে একটি ছোট পুকুর ভরে তুলে
ঠিক যেমন আমরা খাঁড়ি ধরে এক মাইল যাচ্ছিলাম হাঁটতে
আমরা একটি ভাঙ্গা স্টাম্পের চারপাশে বোলতার গুঞ্জন করে উঠছি ভেসে
জড়ো হয়ে এবং বিক্ষিপ্ত হয়ে ঝগড়ার মতো
এখন একটি খুবানি শার্ট এবং একটি তৃণনির্মিত টুপি যা
ভাসমান বন্যফুল দিয়ে সাজানো
আমাদের কোন ধারণা নেই যেখানে খাঁড়ি নিয়ে যায়
জিনিসের প্রতি আমাদের ভালবাসার মতোই শীতল শিখা ছাড়াই

About the Poet:
Ma Yongbo was born in 1964, Ph.D, representative of Chinese avant-garde poetry, and a leading scholar in Anglo-American poetry. He has published over eighty original works and translations since 1986 included 6 poetry collections.He focused on translating and teaching Anglo-American poetry and prose including the work of Dickinson, Whitman, Stevens, Pound, Williams and Ashbery. He recently published a complete translation of Moby Dick, which has sold over half a million copies.
