The Desert Land

Farzaneh Dorri (Iran)

Whispered words,

Fall and gather,

Like rain,

In the cracks and crevices

Of a parched mind;

Too few: 

Fade into the dust

Like a fleeting caress

Too many: 

Erode the crumbling soil

In a desperate flood.

Weary 

Of both drought and deluge,

This desert land waits

For the gentle persistence

Of spring.

মরুভূমি

ফারজানেহ ডোরি (ইরান)

অনুবাদ: মোঃ ইজাজ আহামেদ (ভারত)

 ফিসফিস শব্দ,

 পড়ে এবং জড় হয়,

 বৃষ্টির মত,

 ফাটল এবং ফাটলে

 একটি শুকনো মনের;

 খুব কম: 

 ধুলোয় বিবর্ণ

 একটি ক্ষণস্থায়ী স্নেহের মত

 অনেক বেশি: 

 খেয়ে ফেলো ক্ষয়প্রাপ্ত মাটি

 একটি প্রচণ্ড বন্যাতে।

 ক্লান্ত 

 খরা এবং মহাপ্লাবন উভয়েরই,

 এই মরুভূমি অপেক্ষা করে

 ভদ্র অস্তিত্বের জন্য

 বসন্তের
