POEM - OPPROBRIUM, Poet - Naseer Ahmad
OPPROBRIUM
Naseer Ahmad
They raise their stones, I bore the blame,
No proof, no trial just my name.
Their whispers burned like acid rain,
A thousand tongues, a single chain.
I walked in the light or so I thought,
But shadows twist what truth has brought.
They clothed me in their shameful hue,
And called it justice bold untrue.
Their fingers pointed from afar,
Each wound made a newer scar.
No scaffold, yet I felt the rope,
Strung from their doubt, pulled tight to hope.
They wrote my fall in every street,
In the Ink of lies so quick, so sweet.
No one to ask, no eye to see
The soul that wept beneath the please.
