Poem - When We Meet Again Dr. Omatee Ann Marie Hansraj
When We Meet Again
Dr. Omatee Ann Marie Hansraj
We were children chasing time,
Barefoot dreams and chalkboard rhymes,
Lunchbox secrets, whispered plans,
Holding futures in our hands.
Bell would ring, and we'd all fly,
Laughter echoing the sky,
Swapping stories, dares, and snacks,
Writing legends in our tracks.
Now the years have drawn their lines
On our faces, in our minds.
We wear wisdom, work, and strain
Yet the heart still feels the same.
Every now and then, we find
A moment carved out of time,
Where old friends return once more
To the place our youth adored.
We sit down with graying grace,
Memories shining on each face.
"Remember when?" becomes the song
That carries us the whole night long.
The jokes we told, the tears we hid,
The wild, unfiltered things we did
Still alive in how we smile,
Still the same, though changed in style.
And when the night draws to a close,
We hug, and everyone just knows
Though life moved on and took its bend,
Some friendships never truly end.
So here's to those old schoolyard days,
Etched in time in warmest ways.
We meet, we laugh, we drink, we sigh
Old souls beneath a younger sky.
