The Return
Rifat Ismaili (Albania - Italy)
I have returned to the wonders of the past
Walking softly through the forests of memory.
Memories and rains are born from within me,
And I feel freed from myself.
I often converse with life and death,
As if touching a tender green plant.
My words disappear into the skies,
Into the arms of stars, of angels.
It seems I have entered the miracle of thought.
The rain plays with my mind.
And life, like a young maiden, sketches
Rainbows of unreachable hopes...
I suffer in solitude for things that are not mine.
Can I at least offer a gaze free of pettiness?
As much as I can, I’ll sing, revel, and love,
For life pays no one a single cent!

আমি অতীতের বিস্ময়ে ফিরে এসেছি
স্মৃতির বনের মধ্যে দিয়ে মৃদু হেঁটে।
স্মৃতি আর বৃষ্টির জন্ম আমার ভিতর থেকে,
এবং আমি নিজেকে মুক্ত অনুভব করি।
আমি প্রায়ই জীবন এবং মৃত্যুর সাথে কথা বলি,
যেন কোমল সবুজ গাছের ছোঁয়া।
আকাশে মিলিয়ে যায় আমার কথা,
তারার বাহুতে, ফেরেশতাদের।
মনে হচ্ছে আমি চিন্তার অলৌকিকতায় প্রবেশ করেছি।
বৃষ্টি আমার মন নিয়ে খেলা করে।
এবং জীবন, একটি যুবতী মেয়ের মত, নকশা আঁকে
অপ্রাপ্য আশার রংধনু...
যা আমার নয় তার জন্য একাকীত্বে কষ্ট পাই আমি।
আমি কি অন্তত তুচ্ছতা মুক্ত দৃষ্টি দিতে পারি?
আমি যতটা পারি, আমি গান করব, হইহুল্লোড় করব এবং ভালবাসব,
কারণ জীবন কাউকে এক পয়সাও দেয় না!

Rifat Ismaili, born on March 24, 1968 in Shijak, Albania, is a poet, translator and essayist with international recognition. From 1991 until today he lives in Savona, Italy. He has published many books in various fields of literature. His creative activity includes novels, short stories, poems, essays, studies and translations, and he is known for his extensive contribution to Albanian and international literature.
His work has been translated into many languages.
