A Room in a Castle, Poetess - Elisa Mascia (Italy)

A Room in a Castle

Elisa Mascia (Italy)

You have dismounted from your imperious white oriental thoroughbred;

a gallant arm offered after the bow of a knight from another era.

Now here!

There is no clatter of galloping hooves,

nor a rush to gaze at the reflections in the deep mirror of the soul.

All done with the phlegmatic slowness of notes in the adagio sound of a dancing rhythm.

Butterflies rise from your hungry stomach,

even a few crumbs of freshly baked bread,

the fragrance from your mother's cupboard, who rejoiced at our meeting.

Satisfy your hunger while the trickle of a stream you crossed after the drought of the past autumn in the emptiness of the heart of the room quenches your thirst.

Crumpled sheets no longer know the fine silk threads that patiently wove them.

They too were awaiting your return.

 You brought me the gift of the star-studded blanket spread out on the floor.

In silence, our gazes rest on the voracious shadows chasing each other through the folds where a love stronger than the last is being born.

Between the sheets, the balance of a passion never silenced.
