A Night Alive With Rain, Poet - Dr. Md. Mashuqur Rahman
A Night Alive With Rain
Dr. Md. Mashuqur Rahman
Speak not of rain like this - none truly can convey,
A night of rain that keeps all weary eyes awake;
The crescent moon sinks softly where the droplets play,
And poets rise from silence for such music’s sake.
Upon the tin roof rings a thousand silver tones,
As if a master draws his bow on trembling strings;
The restless air is stirred by deep resounding moans,
While thunder rolls its bass and shakes all earthly things.
Upon a lonely bed, without your presence near,
No gentle sleep descends to soothe my aching mind;
In monsoon’s damp embrace, what warmth is left to cheer?
Through shivering midnight’s chill, what comfort shall I find?
Such rainy nights unravel every thread of thought;
Their haunting song keeps wakeful hearts forever caught.
