Poems of Raisa Melnikova (Vilnius, Lithuania)

MEANINGS

We have lost the meanings of words,
Those that were laid in the beginning.
The logo light of living foundations,
As the Holy Grail lost.
We try to earnestly seek
What was special in those words.
They were hidden by time stamp -
Indicated by other samples.
The hidden truth is big
Do not make out the smoke behind
As behind a concrete wall
Battles and dangers are not seen.

In February

The moon hangs unnoticed, deprived of power.
Pretending for a while to be a small moon,
it realizes it's not spring on earth,
and is surprised by the thin crescent.

And the funniest thing is that in February
the conversation turns to ink,
and on the old table, sown with poems,
the pen suddenly gains strength.

On this night,
the poet's lips are open.
And on the white page of February,
God's fingerprint is formed,
like sparks of fire on ashes.

Unsolved Dreams

I hold my heaps of dreams
In my slender, slightly trembling palms.
And they, like a polyphonic rain,
Rush in pursuit of one another.

I try to decipher the dreams
And I ask the universe for answers,
And I pray to the sorceress moon,
But the secret cannot be wrested from captivity.

You stretch your arms out to me from sleep –
I extend my arms to meet you.
And in the crystal silence of the night
Dreams fluttered away. Such a loss.

Moonlight, a silvery stream,
Spreads through the transcendental spheres.
Dreams vanished, glowing above the earth,
And melted into the ethereal haze.
