PEACE
SHAFKAT AZIZ HAJAM
Where hatred cries,
Where love laughs,
There is peace.
Where colorless water flows,
Where cages for birds aren’t found,
There is peace.
Where songs unite enemies,
Where candles aren’t blown out midway
There is peace.
Where color has no value,
Where castes aren’t recognized,
There is peace.
Where walls are built to live happily,
Where paths are blocked for wrongs,
There is peace.
Where the powerful obey the law,
Where the weak aren’t outlaws,
There is peace.
Where an umbrella is shared by its owner,
Where the rich’s crops feed the poor too,
Where the thirst of one pains the one who quenched it,
There is peace.
