Poem - Lonely in a Crowd, Poet - Dr. Omatee Ann Marie Hansraj

Lonely in a Crowd

Dr. Omatee Ann Marie Hansraj

Many complain about being alone,

About living alone,

About being lonely.

But the worst type of loneliness

Is living in a full house,

And feeling like a stranger,

Feeling abandoned,

Feeling like a stranger in your own house.

Don't think a full house means happiness,

Don't think a full house means no loneliness,

Don't  think a full house means no emptines.

Faces surround you every day,

Yet, no one truly sees you stay,

Hollow echoes in empty space,

A crowd that doesn't know your face.

You wear a mask to hide the pain,

Of feeling lost, of feeling vain,

The silence screams, the emptiness too,

A loneliness that few can do.

In a sea of people, you're adrift,

A stranger in a familiar lift,

The ache within, a heavy weight,

Longing for connection, for a gentle fate.

Quote:

Sometimes the loneliest rooms are filled with people, and the most comforting silences are found in solitude.
