Mere Extolments

Forsaken though a treasure you call me.
You call me a burning lamp ! Am I ?
Keep me from a gush of wind
I will keep lighting your dark abode .
You call me a joy! Am I ?
Let me enter your life , you’ll forget woes.
You call me a good companion, Am I ?
Hold my hand , you’ll relish your journey.
You call me a sweet alyssum ,Am I ?
Plant me in your garden , I’ll spread the aroma
You call me a great idea, Am I ?
Exert me for your gain
or I won’t serve you through your
mere extolment.
For both it’s all in vain.
