Let the Clouds Burst, But....

Nasir Aijaz (Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan)

O' God

Let the clouds burst

Let the Earth quench it's thirst

And recharge the depleting subsoil water streams 

But, before causing the deluge

Think of poor dwelling in mud-houses and huts

And the crops of toiling farmers

Yet to ripe, or ready to be harvested.

মেঘ ফেটে যাক, কিন্তু...

হে ঈশ্বর

মেঘ বিদীর্ণ হোক

পৃথিবী তার তৃষ্ণা নিবারণ করুক

এবং ক্ষয়প্রাপ্ত মৃত্তিকা জলের স্রোতগুলিকে রিচার্জ করুন 

কিন্তু, মহাপ্লাবন ঘটার আগেই

মাটির ঘর এবং কুঁড়েঘরে দরিদ্রদের বসবাসের কথা ভাবুন

আর মেহনতি কৃষকদের শস্য

এখনো পাকা বা ফসল প্রস্তুত সংগ্রহ করার জন্য ।
