WHEN LOVE BECOMES THE WORLD, Poetess - Thi Lan Anh Tran (Germany)
WHEN LOVE BECOMES THE WORLD

You said,
only you and I remain,
with love enduring.
I bent to gather
the season's final leaf,
its fragile veins
like the worn lines of an old hand.
Leaves do not belong forever to the forest.
They become the earth,
so another spring
may rise in green.
You said
time is the wind.
I have learned
it is also rain,
falling quietly
upon our hair,
each drop disappearing,
yet leaving
the sky brighter than before.
Autumn still journeys
beyond the edge of the sea.
Chrysanthemums
still fade
into an evening
soft enough to forgive.
Nothing stands still,
except remembrance
when it blossoms
into peace.
And if one day
one of us
must leave before the other,
let the one who remains
never call it farewell.
For love
has never lived
inside a spoken name,
nor in the hands
that once held each other.
Love is the flame
passed from one heart
into another.
It is the song
our children hum
without knowing why.
It is the shade
of the tree
where we once rested,
still sheltering someone
a hundred years from now.
There will come a day
when there is
no longer you,
no longer me.
Only the sky,
still carrying
its white drifting clouds.
Only the river,
still bearing
the seasons away.
And in that place
where time itself
has forgotten its own name,
love
no longer needs
to remain.
For it has become
the world.

Author's Note
This poem was born from a simple belief: that true love does not end with promises or the presence of two people. As time quietly carries everything onward, what remains is not merely memory, but what love has sown into the world—kindness, compassion, hope, and the light passed from one heart to another.
There comes a moment when love no longer needs to endure, because it has already become part of the world itself.
