Poems of Richard Doiron

Slipping into Myself

Unaware, I would claim separation from the world around me,
assigning to myself, therefore, a value comparable to that of an
entire universe, separate and apart.

Aware, no claims would be mine to make, my elemental being
slipping into my earth, wind, and fire self, here but in passing,
if yet the stuff of stars, of galaxies no end, at present but
a dweller among the aphids and the ants.

Resumed the Rub

You speak your piece so heartfelt as to bleed,
Immersed for long in digging up the facts,
And yet it seems so few of them will heed
If some might deem to give you forty whacks.

So what's the point? you ask yourself once more,
Your soul laid bare for them to step upon,
If truth be told the truth is what it's for -
Your cause supreme that sees you carry on.

At close of day you know a certain peace,
If cognizant tomorrow comes a flood -
Resumed the rub that may well never cease,
To bear in mind what's borne inside your blood.

Resounding Love

The hopeful heart has every right to be –
the universe discounting not a dream –
allowed the self to seek serenity,
reflecting night the moonlight in a stream.

Each lover yearns for love that will appear,
each sweet caress a memory taking form,
each flower pressed a message crystal-clear,
each "pretty please" a way of getting warm.

Each shooting star a promise taking place,
each summer night a season for the soul,
each garden green a gripping filled with grace,
each tender kiss a wonder, rendered whole.

How not to think that heaven's finally heard,
when here and now our lives are made anew,
resounding love in every single word,
no wise a doubt applied to me and you.
