Oh, how exalted is your rank!
You are the delicate, gentle, and beloved essence—
Wherever you descend, wherever you flow, you are cherished.
How elevated your status has been
Since the dawn of existence!
Within you, God placed the secret of life.
Through you, the plains and hills bloomed,
Mountains flourished,
Blessings streamed forth,
And eternal cities thrived,
As you coursed through them as rivers and seas.
You are the first story of creation,
The joyous beginning of existence.
You awakened the plains,
Made the deserts bloom,
And adorned the trees—
Upon which birds sang,
Chanting melodies of love and peace.
You are the birth of the drop
That ignited eternal life,
The longing of the thirsty,
The delight of those who drink,
Since the universe was formed.
You breathe life
Into all that flourishes by your touch,
Wherever you pass.
You are the first joy of the fasting soul,
The pillar of life,
The morning’s delight
As it welcomes the gentle drizzle of your words.
You are the luminous essence,
For which the universe remains ever thirsty.
Your presence is the melody of the soul,
A song of pure serenity.
Yes, it is you, O water—
The heartbeat of life.
