As if these threads were something dried
Yet she does not see the wisdom hidden then
In every lock where time and trials abide.
Oh, let her taunt, and let her scornful eye
Fixate on what she deems in sign of age,
For in these mark of time, I need not lie,
They tell a story written page by page.
If only she could understand the grace

The battles fought, the tears upon my face.
The countless seeds of kindness I have shown.'4

Yet better this than flaws of heart or soul,
For greyness is a badge of honor won.
Would she accuse me of a lesser goal ?
Of deeds undone or hurtful words begun?
No, let her see this silver crown I wear,
Not as a sign of shame? but of my pride.
For time has touched me gently, left me fair,
With stories rich and wisdom as my guide.'5

So let her scorn; she knows not what she says
These silver threads are more than she could know,
