Poem - The Awaited Dawn, Poetess - Shah Jehan Ashrafi (Canada)
The Awaited Dawn
He will come and go to the people on the other side of the desert
Where there’s not enough water to quench thirst;
And we keep our taps running for no reason.
We throw away leftovers,
And they are dying there by relying on grass soup.
When we smell red roses we forget that blood is also red.
But after every dusk there’s an awaited dawn;
He will come and feed them with the water of life and bring to them food for soul
He promised his support when chaos will
Blind flickering hopes
He will be the candle lighting faltering flames.
And his glow will bring suffering to light.
Blinded egos will shatter under their own weight.
The world will breath and pain will evaporate;
peace and love will smile under dignity’s sunshine.
Oh saviour, come now it’s time.
We want to see your face.
