Sunset Hums
Nasser Alshaikhahmed
elsewhere, a revelation is unraveling.
The window snags into the last filament of light,
a curve for the evening to hold on.
Come.
Wrap yourself around me.
Take the lyrics from my heart.
Learn them by feeling
the way water remembers the shape of its riverbed.
Write our names
where indeed the wind will stumble to abolish them.
Plum-blossom,
vivid pulse of my dream
ignore the confused whiffs in the air.
Move with me.
Let the prophecy kindle:
a ridge beneath the ribs,
a secret breaking free,
certainty rising like heat from stone.
Don’t rush.
My eyes are pages, read them slowly.
Let love mount onto the midnight’s tail
and ride it hard toward morning.
The miles between us
are nobody but the distance
between your neigh
and my misery.
