The melody of love from the heart of lips overspills,
Enjoying beauty's variety, I feel swept by peace and delight.
 A rose of the garden, whose colour and beauty are different,
My busy life becomes enthused with rhythmic treads after it.

How many times the pen will draw the designs of sharab red,
How much it will extol the beloved’s beauty and Saki’s charm.   
How much it will compose the sad music and verses of love and  separation,
The pen will move forward with time without our knowledge.

My pilgrimage occurs with bees in the honeyed bower of flowers,        
In silent meditation I go on drinking in a region full of glow.
I find my heart spinning around the hive of the beloved,
All bees suck honey—love-honey-drink emits flow of fragrance.

The vase told some wife, 'Both of us are cordially taken care of,
'My beauty decorates the table where your beauty home and hearth.
'Withering away we are lost and thus the days of us glide away,
'Our charming bodies turning into dust will be blown away in the air.'

Why does the lotus bloom today on the limpid breast of waves?
For the beloved's gaze is cast leaning through her veil’s gap.
Light from the gem of the Evening star licks petals and leaves,
A scene flashes in the lotus bower from perfume dripped from lips. 




 
The Persian word `Ruba’ means four and Rubai is a self-contained poem of four lines. `Rubaiyat’ is the plural of the word Rubai. The rhythm pattern of Rubai is a a b a, that is, the rhythm of the first stanza must match the rhythm of the second and fourth stanzas, while the third stanza is independent, which may or may not match the rhythm of the other stanzas. Since the third stanza of Rubai is independent, a tendency and rhythmic tension are created in the rhythmic flow, which gives this quatrain a complete form and unique characteristics. Some Persian rhetoricians have expressed the opinion that if the third stanza of Rubai is optional, then the fourth stanza will naturally create a deep rhythmic sound and sweetness. Such recognized harmony of Rubaiyat is the unique nature and special mood of the writing style that creates a difference from the harmony or rhythm used in other poems. Here is the importance of Rubaiyat. This aspect of the rubai has a special characteristic that sets it apart from other poetic forms of rhythm and nature prevalent in world literature. The rubai is a poetic form that is sonorous, rhythmic, musical, and has a special rhythm or harmony.
 
 
Short Biography
 Gazi  Abdulla-hel Baqui was born on 16 February 1951, at Kaliganj, Satkhira, Bangladesh. He did his Hon’s and Masters in English from Chittagong University and PhD from Dhaka University. Now he is Adjunct Professor and Advisor to the Department of English at Khulna Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah University, Bangladesh. He started his career in 1973 at Kaliganj Degree College, Satkhira, then Assistant Professor and Head of the Dept. of English, Jhenidah Cadet College, Jhenidah for about 09 years, Faculty of English, Fatma Zahra Teachers’ Training Institute, Libya for about 02 years and 04 months. In 1991 he joined Khulna University and served there till 2011 in the positions of Registrar and Director, Modern Language Center, and Part-time and Full-time Faculty of English Discipline, Khulna University. His initiative established English, Economics and Bangla Disciplines, and Modern Language Center and Institute of Fine Arts at Khulna University.  He also served as Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Science, North Western University, Khulna, and Dean, Faculty of Arts and Modern Language, Leading University. Sylhet.
                                      
He wrote a large number of Poems, Articles, Book Reviews, Haiku, Rubaiyat, etc. His Rubaiyat-i- Gazi  Abdulla-hel Baqui containing more than 2400 Rubaiyat is an invaluable addition to Bangla literature. Many Research Articles on different topics such as aesthetics, teaching, English literature, Persian literature etc., and his 27 Books including Translation Works have been published. A solo Cassette Album of English poems VISIONS was published by National Library of Poetry, USA in 1996.
 
He was awarded ‘Prize of Merit’ for ‘A Poem for Peace’ in 1994, 1995, and 1996 competitions held at Torino in Italy, ‘International Poet of Merit’ by International Society of Poets, USA  in 1995 and ‘Editors’ Choice Award’ by The National Library of Poetry, USA in 1998 for his poetic accomplishment. A number of his poems have been published In the Anthologies in USA and Italy. In Bangladesh, he got many Awards by different organizations for his contribution to poetry, research and other literary works and also as an academician.
He is now Life Member(1599), Bangla Academy, Dhaka and Khulna Shahitta Parishad (literary organization); Member, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, Dhaka and Shilpakala (Fine Arts) Academy, Khulna; Distinguished member, International Society of Poets (ISP), USA.
 
He was formerly editor of The College Chronicle of Jhenidah Cadet College; Associate Editor, Khulna University Studies and one of the two Editors, History of Khulna University; Executive Editor, North Western University Journal; Executive Editor, Journal of Business, Society and Science, and Editor, The News Bulletin, Leading University, Sylhet and Member, Editorial Board, IRA Publications, New Delhi and Bharat Publications, India. He participated in a good number of Workshops, Seminars and Conferences, at local, national and regional levels.
