Missing the Sky

Edy Samudra Kertagama  (Indonesia)

The clouds sway

Water falls on the road

While missing the sky

Falling in the morning.

Is there someone

Watching over the night?

When everyone has returned

To note silence

There are thousands of echoes

Has been scratched by bird flaps

Which suddenly came

From the sprawling landscape.

And I ask you

Forget the barren skies

So that the fire in the eyes

It's not in vain that we keep it

Forever.

আকাশের অভাব অনুভব করে

এডি সমুদ্র কের্তগামা ( ইন্দোনেশিয়া)

মেঘ দোলে

রাস্তায় জল পড়ে

আকাশ মিস করার সময়ে

সকালে পড়ে।

কেউ কি আছে

সারারাত দেখে?

যখন সবাই ফিরে এসেছে

নীরবতা  উল্লেখ করতে

হাজারো প্রতিধ্বনি আছে

পাখির ঝাপটা দিয়ে আঁচড় দেওয়া হয়েছে

যা এলো হঠাৎ করে 

বিস্তৃত প্রাকৃতিক দৃশ্য থেকে।

এবং আমি তোমাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করি

অনুর্বর আকাশ যাও ভুলে 

যাতে চোখে আগুন জ্বলে

এটা নিরর্থক নয় যে আমরা এটা রাখি

চিরকাল।

Edy Samudra Kertagama, as poet and director is invited to National and International literary-theatre meetings.
